A320 Training Center Evaluator

Position Purpose

A Training Center Evaluators (TCE) is responsible for conducting designated flight training lessons.

Number of TCEs Required / Authorized

Aerosim strives to maintain the appropriate number of TCEs considering:

  • Aerosim past and projected training levels.
  • The number of authorized flight simulators available for training/checking.
  • The complexity of the fleet (i.e., the need to maintain multiple evaluator qualifications due to make, model, and series of aircraft).
  • The number of satellites and remote facilities where evaluations are authorized.
  • The ability to schedule a student for an evaluation within seven (7) days of course completion.
  • The TCPM and the TCGM shall agree on the total number of TCEs authorized for each fleet. The current authorization is: A320 fleet: Three (3).

Reporting

Training Center Evaluators functionally report to their respective Fleet Chief Instructor, but perform authorizations as representatives of the TCPM.

Primary Duties

Primary duties include:

  • Conducting an assessment of performance during a qualification event with reference to guidance provided by the TCPM
  • Documenting the qualification event using TCPM-provided forms and company written and/or on-line forms
  • Bringing qualification event errors and omissions to the attention of the Chief Instructor and/or TCPM as appropriate
  • Note: TCEs must maintain qualification as a Flight Instructor and, as such, also perform duties associated with that position. See the Primary Duties of the ‘Flight Instructor’ section of this chapter.

Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics

Knowledge, skills, and other characteristics include (but are not limited to):

  • Proven ability to effectively and accurately assess technical and CRM skills.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the flight maneuvers, skills, and events as Pilot-In-Command to the same standard as required in the respective curriculum.
  • In-depth understanding of the respective aircraft and flight procedures.
  • Proficient time management skills.

Qualifications

The normal preferred qualifications established by the FAA include (but are not limited to):

  • The qualifications specified in the Flight Instructor’s ‘Qualifications’ section above.
  • Approval by the TCPM. The approval is based on, among other things: 1) a history of cooperation with the FAA, and a good record as an airman regarding accidents, incidents, and 2) a reputation for integrity and dependability within the industry and the community.
  • Current and qualified AeroElite Flight Instructor including: 1) at least one year of training center experience as a simulator instructor, and 2) at least 100 hours of simulator/FTD operating experience within the previous 12 months in the same aircraft make, model, series, and type of simulator.
